Employment and social priorities of the Polish Presidency
Europe’s ageing population will be at the heart of the Polish Presidency’s social priorities. In the absence of innovative proposals on social policy, the white paper on the adequacy and sustainability of pensions in the autumn of 2011 will be the big social issue of the next six months. With this in mind, Warsaw has defined three broad themes: the EU’s future demography; an active Europe; and citizen partnership, through, for example, participation of non-governmental organisations. It plans to hold a series of conferences and adopt conclusions on different subjects.
