  Employment package: The EPP Group stands for a job rich recovery

  Yesterday the European Commission published its long-awaited Employment package, a communication along with 9 working documents aimed at restoring growth and boosting job creation in the EU. "Given the current levels of unemployment, the European Union needs these ambitious and concrete measures in order to create more and better jobs, and to cope with major structural challenges like the ageing of the population," said Csaba Őry MEP, EPP Group coordinator in the Employment and Social Affairs Committee (EMPL).

  Priorities of the Danish Presidency

  Copenhagen inherits a heavy social affairs agenda, with the economic crisis, the ageing of the population and the numerous legislative issues on the drawing board. As of 1 January 2012, the European Parliament and the Council will have around ten legislative proposals on the table and the Commission is set to continue to exercise its right of initiative, announcing a major employment package covering flexicurity, employment services and the European semester'.
