Csaba Őry MEP, EPP Group coordinator in the Employment and Social Affairs Committee took the floor yesterday in the debate about the European Commission's 2012 legislative and work programme at the European Parliament's plenary session in Strasbourg. MEP Őry supported President Barroso to keep growth enhancing and job creating legislative initiatives in the focus, but at the same time critized heavily the Commission about its slow working method.
'The European Commission has promised to publish its new proposal about the posting directive already for the 1st quarter of 2011, the revised working time directive already for the 3rd quarter of 2011, and we have expected the white paper on pensions, after several postponements, for the 9th November. However, as far as I know, all these legislative initiatives can come out only, under the best circumstances, before the end of this year' said the EPP Group coordinator in the debate.
'We shouldn't forget: the European Union is still in its worst crisis ever, millions of citizens are unemployed, therefore I strongly urge the European Commission to speed up its working method and publish these important initiatives as soon as possible' added MEP Őry.
